Full Moon Circles
Full Moons are the primary service of Full Circle, offered to all adult women (including ciswomen and transwomen, we believe and affirm that transgender women are women).

Full Moon Circles are experiential programs involving singing, dancing, drumming, meditation, laughing, and artwork. We have excessive amounts of fun, creating spiritual experiences for ourselves and others, sharing what’s happening in our lives, and deepening our connections to the cycles of nature.

Full Moons are held 13 times per year, on the Friday closest to the actual Full Moon, from 7:30 pm to approximately 9:30 pm. Our monthly events are free and open to the public. There is no need to be a church member, or attend the church service prior to celebrating an event. All are welcome! You do not need follow a particular dogma or creed. You only need an open mind and heart. No prior knowledge is required to attend.

While we recognize that we are still learning and growing, we aim to be a welcoming and inclusive place for all women who wish to celebrate the Feminine Divine. Young women aged 13 and above are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a guardian. We typically meet indoors in the UUCA Sanctuary - when it gets warmer, we may meet outside depending on weather. There is an ADA Accessible lift to the main level inside. We aim to create inclusive events for women of all abilities--if you have accessibility needs, please contact fullcircleuuca@gmail.com.
We invite all full moon attendees to come as they are, dress is casual. You are invited to bring a snack to share after ritual for feasting & fellowship.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A FULL CIRCLE FULL MOON EVENT
Though each full moon celebration is unique–we explore a variety of topics and delve into our spirituality through a variety of lenses and practices from meditation to divination, painting to poetry–our rituals typically contain the following components. If anything feels uncomfortable to you, you can sit quietly and observe. This is a guilt free practice and we want everyone in attendance to feel comfortable.
Cleanse
We cleanse to prepare ourselves for ritual. Cleansing is a grounding practice which invites us to intentionally let go of the cares, worries and “static” of our mundane lives so we can enter the circle ready to grow and learn together.
Cast Circle
We cast a circle as a way to help us mark this time together as sacred and special. Casting a circle signifies that we are in a safe and supportive sacred space together.
Call Quarters
We call quarters to ask for blessings in our ritual. We know that transformative personal work takes learning, passion, feeling, grounding and spiritual connection, so we call to the four quarters of the earth and their associated elements to call those blessings into our circle.
Check-In
We check-in as a way to build community. During check in we ask that you share:
-
Your name
-
Your magickal/spiritual name if you have one
-
The day of your menstrual cycle you are on. If you don’t cycle for any reason you can say “I cycle with the Moon”
-
Your matriarchal lineage; i.e. “Who’s your mama?” If you would rather not name your female ancestors for any reason you can say “I am a daughter of the moon”.
-
The question of the evening which changes each month based on the theme for the ritual.
Checking in not only helps us to build community, but it also helps us to recognize the seasons and cycles of our own lives and to gain insights into the patterns that exist, persist or are changing in our personal journey.
When you have the talking piece you have the floor and can expect to speak without interruption. As listeners, we will be mindful to simply hold space and resist the urge to respond to sharing with feedback/suggestions/etc. When you are finished speaking you can say “thank you” to the circle for holding space for you and the circle will respond “thank you” in gratitude for your sharing.
Intro to the Theme
The HPE (*high priestess of the evening--i.e. ritual facilitator) will introduce the theme for the ritual and help situate tonight’s ritual into the broader theme that the group is exploring in this series. She will share background information and help the group set intentions for the evening.
Ritual Observance
Each month we explore the theme for the ritual in a variety of ways. We may meditate or make art or journal or dance/move together. Doing this helps us to remember that there are many ways to explore and express our spirituality. Sharing in these practices together invites us to try something new or reaffirm/reconnect with a practice you are familiar with.
Reflection
We take time to reflect upon the experience we have had together. We may share our insights with the whole group or in small-group conversations or by journaling or otherwise recording our insights for ourselves.
Thank Quarters
As our ritual winds down, we bid farewell to the quarters. This is our opportunity to give thanks for the blessings that we called into our circle at the beginning of our ritual.
Close Circle
We close the circle as a way of concluding our ritual. We reconnect with the circle we cast at the beginning of the evening, we give thanks for the time we have spent learning and growing together and we prepare ourselves to depart from the circle with new insights that we can take into our lives. We remind ourselves that though our circle is open, it is unbroken.
Feasting & Grounding
We spend time after the ritual in fellowship together. We eat snacks, catch up with one another and enjoy time together. Feasting is a way of grounding after ritual and we encourage you to eat something, even if it is just a little snack, to help you ground and center.
